A registered trademark which protects words, names, brand names, designs, logos, phrases, slogans, sounds, colors and scents that distinguish goods or services from those manufactured or sold by others and to indicate the source of the goods. Trademarks can be renewed forever as long as they are being used in interstate commerce. Federal registration provides a high degree of legal protection and demonstrative evidence of ownership of the mark.
